Bryce Canyon

This panoramic photograph of Bryce Canyon was taken by James Blakeway. It features a sunrise view of Bryce Amphitheater, the largest natural amphitheater in the park. Erosion has shaped the colorful formations into what starts as fins, then further erode into pinnacles and spires called "hoodoos." These in turn weaken and fall, adding their bright colors to the hills below. Each year more than 1.5 million visitors from all over the world visit the park. Open all year, the park offers recreational opportunities for all seasons with hiking, sightseeing and photography being the most popular. Days can be spent hiking throughout the area.
