This panoramic photograph of San Antonio was taken by James Blakeway. Featured at the far right is the Alamodome, home of the San Antonio Spurs basketball team. Left of the Alamodome is the 750 foot Tower of the Americas, which was built for the city's HemisFair '68. The most famous of San Antonio's historic sites is the Alamo, built in 1718. The Long Barrack, once the mission rectory, has been restored and contains a museum of fascinating Texas relics. In the course of history, San Antonio has been under six flags: France, Spain, Mexico, Republic of Texas, Confederate States of America and United States of America. |
